Casablanca: The King Orders Removal of advertising banners

By Abdelhamid Mahmoud

Casablanca’s administrative police has led a campaign on Saturday night to remove hundreds of administrative police mobilized following direct order of King Mohammed VI.

The contract covering three prefectures in Casablanca amounts to a yearly revenue of 3.1 million dirhams (around $310,000). This includes banners on about 2,600 street lights at a cost of MAD 1200 each.

However, the French-language news source LE DESK explains that this segment of the advertisement market is characterize by chaos as the lack of municipalities’ effective control makes it easy for the advertisers to breach the terms of the contracts.
