Gendarmerie Officer Killed by “Spoiled Kid” (the Whole Story + video)

A young boy crushed a duty Royal Gendarmerie Officer on purpose last Friday in the coastal area of Harhoura near Rabat, leading to massive condemnation on social media. The punishment awaiting him may amount to a life sentence.

The story

The news of the death of a Gendarmerie officer while on duty began surfacing since Friday October 4. In the beginning it sounded as a casual accident, but later news sources started talking about a deliberate killing, which began raising eyebrows in the absence of an official story.

On Saturday, social media users began spreading the details of the incident: a young man who now run by “Spoiled Kid” exceeded the authorized speed, and the officer signaled him to pull over but he continued. His girlfriend, who sat beside him, asked him to slow down or else he would crush the officer, to which replied “I don’t care about that ****”. The officer run to the side to dodge the car but the “Spoiled Kid” followed him and crushed him with his Mercedes-Benz.

The youngster tried to flee but he was stopped by the other officers who rushed in to save their colleague. The 29-year-old officer was then rushed to the hospital but he passed away before the ambulance arrived to its destination.

The officer who had just gotten married was buried on the same day in his native city of Khenifra in northern central Morocco.

 

“Another Spoiled Kid?”

Soon after the incident, the identity of the perpetrator was revealed. He is the son of a wealthy Moroccan-Dutch father and a Dutch mother. His father owns an IT firm in Holland and boy came back to Morocco recently after graduation to start his company.

Facebook users in Morocco have condemned the crime, and denounced the absence of an official statement that they considered as an attempt to cover up on the perpetrator. They also brought up a similar incident, in which another rich youngster who was also called a spoiled kid, filmed himself drunk raising his voice at a police officer for asking him to pull over.

 

Heavy Sentence

The spoiled kid was presented today to the attention of the prosecutor after being held on custody. The charges against him include “the intentional abuse of a public official while on duties, leading to murder,” which the camera recording system in the car proved. As for the girlfriend, the authorities released her after it turned out that she did not take part in the act of aggression.

The defendant will appear before an investigating judge in the first hearing scheduled on October 23. The total sum of the charges against him have prison sentences ranging between 10 years and life sentence.
