Watch: Timeless Fez

The ancient city of Fez, located in northern Morocco, is the third largest city in the Kingdom and home to the world’s oldest university as well as one of the world’s oldest and most cherished medinas.

Originally, Fez began as two separate cities, the first of which was founded late in the 8th century.  Although they united by the 11th century, Fez is still characterized by three specific regions; Fez el-Bali, the old walled city… Fez-Jdid, constructed in 1257… and the newest section known as the Ville Nouvelle, founded by the French in the early part of the 20th century. It is the second oldest Islamic and one of Morocco’s four Imperial cities which include Marrakesh, Meknes and Rabat, the present-day capital of the Kingdom city in Morocco.
